Rainy Days and Wednesdays Never Get Me Down

Some of you may ask, “What does a photographer do when it is pouring down rain outside and NO ONE (in their right mind) wants to take pictures?”

Be prepared, my friends, for the scary truth!

We edit other shoots, watch classic childhood movies on Netflix, work on our blog, and get along quite happily, until * strangled sob * our internet goes down!

Why Hermine, Why?!?! I love the rain, but… but… so many plans, so many opportunities on the world wide web… gone…

What does a photographer do?

No one to take pictures of.

No Netflix.

No Blogger.

No Gmail.

No Google.

What do we do without Al Gore’s glorious invention?

Hmmm…

We break down a little. Then…

We knit.

We crochet.

We listen to music.

We drink Chai lattes.

We snack WAY too much.

We cuddle with the attention-starved Chihuahua sitting next to us.

We discover, “hmm, this isn’t so bad...”

Then we take pictures of the things we knitted and write a blog post on Word and save it to post later.

Cocoons and pods for babies :)

Hey, I never said I’d go cold turkey!

Mmm… turkey…

I wonder if there’s any in the fridge?

Don’t judge.

NaylorMade Giveaway!

I'm offering a special giveaway today! Some of you may be familiar with the XLV Countdown going on at Jerry's House on Friday at 7:30. Tim McGraw is the star performer and there will also be a special performance by classical pianist Van Cliburn. It should be a family friendly event and an excellent opportunity to see the new Cowboys stadium!

You can find more details about the concert here.

On to the important part!
So what's the giveaway? I have two tickets to the event available to the first customer to mention the giveaway while booking a shoot. Tickets will be delivered after receipt of sitting fee payment.

Can't wait to hear from you!

Cute Cousin

I recently had a shoot with my cousin and her 7 month old. He is incredibly cute and LOVES to smile. The only problem is that he like to see you smile too. As soon as you put the camera to your face, the smile disappears! The shoot consisted of focusing the camera and setting up the shot, then taking my face away from the camera so I could make noises, faces, and sounds to get him to smile. I think things turned out surprisingly well!

Mesquite Bible Band Shoot

I had the privilege of taking some promotional photos for our church band. They have a concert coming up in October. It was a fun experience and everyone was very patient despite the 100 degree heat, bugs, and patch of poison ivy that one of the bass players was sitting in. Lens flare is a tricky thing and I had some great shots that would have been perfect, except the lead singer turned out looking like a cyborg. So, here are a couple of the final products.
